# Yanmar
|
|
|
|
Some 3D designs for the Yanmar engines and saildrives, like ignition key and stop knob, and shim for the saildrive.
|
|
|
|
## Ignition Key
|
|
|
|
The metal ignition keys from my 3JH3E engines were corroded and were always reacting with the metal of the lock, regularly binding.
|
|
I always keep the key in the ignition so that sailors can rescue my boat in case it starts dragging its anchor, so there is plenty of time to corrode.
|
|
|
|
I printed a new set of keys from PAHT-CF. This is carbon reinforced nylon. I tried printing first with ASA but that turned out to be too weak.
|
|
|
|
Be careful here: If the key breaks at an unfortunate moment loss of property or life can occur!
|
|
|
|
## Stop knob
|
|
|
|
My engine installation has the mechanical stop knobs that operate via a bowden cable. The T-handles were looking ugly and always mis aligned.
|
|
I designed nice round knobs that also cover the (often rusty) nut underneath. I printed them with ASA because they are always outside in rain, spray, and strong UV.
|
|
To attach them, it might help if you use a thread cutter first, then use a grip spanner to prevent the stud from turning.
|
|
|
|
## SD50 saildrive shim
|
|
|
|
The prop shaft seals of my saildrives started to wear out more quickly. Problem is that the seals worn a groove in the prop shaft, which is a common problem.
|
|
If you put this shim in the seal housing first, the seals will shift up a little and start working on a new part of the shaft.
|
|
This is a much easier and cheaper solution than buying a new shaft, using a sleeve, or have the shafts welded up and machined afterwards.
|
|
I printed these with PETG, which is oil and water resistant. Once installed, there is no force acting on them so they are strong enough.
